JPEG-2000 problems

Questions and postings pertaining to the usage of ImageMagick regardless of the interface. This includes the command-line utilities, as well as the C and C++ APIs. Usage questions are like "How do I use ImageMagick to create drop shadows?".

Regarding 'seq-1.jp2': Well, I have no problem with that file. Seems to be another mystery (like those Old JPEG in TIFF files, that can also be decoded only on some IM installations).
Perhaps some switches at build/configuration time influence that?

Just to be sure, I tried again. I guess I gave up too soon due to the size of the image and trying to do identify -verbose rather than identify.

identify seq-1.jp2
seq-1.jp2 JP2 5284x7222 5284x7222+0+0 8-bit DirectClass 4.771MB 16.020u 0:18.049

identify Schutters_1.jpf
error: cannot decode code stream
identify: unable to decode image file `Schutters_1.jpf' @ error/jp2.c/ReadJP2Image/400.

And renaming the suffix to jp2

identify Schutters_1.jp2
error: cannot decode code stream
identify: unable to decode image file `Schutters_1.jp2' @ error/jp2.c/ReadJP2Image/400.

You were right: That WAS confusing.
Your IM installation now gives the same results as my installation.
(Of course, it's still unclear why so0ly has sometimes the problem with 'seq-1.jp2'.)

what is interesting is that if I change the suffix to .jp2, it opens fine in Mac PREVIEW.

Perhaps Preview keys on the suffix and not the Magick Identifier that IM uses?

Running Exiftool, but don't know what to make of it. The one interesting thing is that it lists:

2 CompatibleBrands : jp2 , jpxb, jpx

But does not include jpf.

Code: Select all
