Converting modern image files to old DEGAS image format

Would it be possible for ImageMagick to convert modern image files to the old DEGAS file format?

My favorite program is a document processor, that produces very high quality printed output. Unfortunately, the only inline images it will recognize have to be in the old DEGAS format... :|

ImageMagick does not support the DEGAS image format and we do not anticipate support for the format any time soon. However, search for a program called pbmtopi3 and try this command:

convert myimage myimage.pbm
pbmtopi3 myimage.pbm > myimage.pi3
