Geo Tags from Picassa / Google Earth

Hi all,
I have a growing collection of 35mm scans made with a CoolScan V. I use Picassa / Google Earth to tag the files, before converting them with ImageMagick.
Unfortunately, Picassa only updates the metadata for JPG files. For other file types, such as TIF files, it stores the location data in .ini files in each folder.
I could export that data as KML from Google Earth, or I could parse the INI files to get it.
Has anyone attempted to script / automate such a process?
